Mark Holland: From Ajax to Health Minister

Former Ajax MP appointed to federal cabinet

Zimonjic reports on Holland's rise to prominence

The Honourable Mark Holland, former Member of Parliament for Ajax, has been appointed to the federal cabinet as Minister of Health. Holland's political career spans over two decades, during which he has served in various roles, including as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness and Chief Government Whip.

Holland is a member of the Liberal Party and was first elected to the House of Commons in 2004. He served as the MP for Ajax until 2011, when he was defeated by Conservative candidate Chris Alexander. Holland regained the seat in the 2015 election and has held it ever since.

In his new role as Minister of Health, Holland will be responsible for overseeing the Canadian healthcare system. He will face a number of challenges, including the aging population, the rising cost of healthcare, and the need to improve access to care. However, Holland is confident that he can make a positive difference in the lives of Canadians.

"I am honoured to have been appointed Minister of Health," Holland said. "I believe that everyone in Canada deserves access to quality healthcare, regardless of their income or where they live. I am committed to working with my colleagues in government, healthcare professionals, and Canadians from all walks of life to build a better healthcare system for everyone."
