WNBA Draft 2021: Results and Reactions
The 2021 WNBA Draft is in the books, and as expected, the Dallas Wings started the night by selecting Charli Collier with the No. 1 overall pick.
Here's a look at all of the picks in the first round, as well as some of the reactions from around the league:
No. 1: Dallas Wings - Charli Collier, C, Texas
The Wings added a potential franchise cornerstone in Collier, who was the consensus No. 1 pick in the draft. The 6-foot-5 center is a skilled scorer and rebounder who should be able to contribute immediately in Dallas.
No. 2: Indiana Fever - Aaliyah Boston, C, South Carolina
The Fever added another talented big in Boston, who was the SEC Defensive Player of the Year in 2021. The 6-foot-5 center is a strong rebounder and shot-blocker who should help improve Indiana's defense.
No. 3: Atlanta Dream - Rhyne Howard, G, Kentucky
The Dream added a dynamic scorer in Howard, who was the SEC Player of the Year in 2021. The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 20.2 points per game last season and should be able to provide a much-needed offensive boost for Atlanta.
No. 4: Washington Mystics - Shakira Austin, C, Mississippi
The Mystics added a versatile big in Austin, who was the SEC Freshman of the Year in 2021. The 6-foot-5 center is a skilled scorer and rebounder who should be able to contribute in a variety of ways for Washington.
No. 5: Dallas Wings - Awak Kuier, C, Finland
The Wings added another talented big in Kuier, who was one of the most sought-after international prospects in the draft. The 6-foot-4 center is a skilled scorer and rebounder who should be able to contribute immediately in Dallas.
