Storm edge Bulldogs in thrilling contest
Melbourne prevail in high-scoring affair
Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs succumbed to the Melbourne Storm 16-14 in a gripping Round 6 encounter.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring through winger Jacob Preston, but the Storm hit back with a try to centre Justin Olam. The Bulldogs regained the lead with a Josh Addo-Carr try, before Jake Averillo extended their advantage to 14-8 just before half-time.
The Storm came out firing in the second half, with Jahrome Hughes crossing for a try within minutes of the restart. Cameron Munster converted and the scores were level at 14-14. The Storm then took the lead for the first time through a penalty goal to Munster, and held on for a hard-fought victory.
The Bulldogs will be disappointed to have let slip a six-point lead but will take heart from their performance against one of the NRL's top teams. The Storm, meanwhile, showed their class with a gritty come-from-behind win and will be looking to continue their strong start to the season.
